A record of what I'm doing with my life
I'm Nikhil. I build things, think slowly, and try to pay attention to what actually matters.
How I Think
I'd rather do one thing properly than ten things carelessly. Every project I touch starts with a single question: does this deserve to exist?
Most things get better when you spend more time with them. I'm not in a hurry to ship or publish or announce — I'm in a hurry to understand.
I'm drawn to things that don't demand more from you than necessary — software, spaces, habits. If it needs to shout, something is already wrong.

Monochromatic glyphs on a strict 24px grid. One weight. No exceptions. I made these for myself first — turns out others wanted them too.
Quiet color systems for editors, terminals, and operating systems. Made to be forgotten — the best compliment a theme can get.
An open notebook of half-formed ideas and things I keep returning to. Not everything needs to ship — some things just need to be thought through.
Writing
I write when there's something worth saying, not when there's space to fill. Mostly on Medium.
Frictionless interfaces eliminate not just effort, but the conscious choice that precedes meaningful action. And I think that cost is invisible until it isn't.
Read EntryColor is information. When everything is colored, nothing is. Restraint creates legibility — in design, and in how you spend your time.
Read EntrySome moments deserve a pause. I keep designing the pauses back in, wherever I can. Not everything should be one tap away.
